For BOR2, there is a change in requirement:
Take a picture with a Rob, the manager.  If he is unavailable, take a photo with any Woodland Park Employee

For WB1, there is an update to the coordinates and address:
40.842446    -74.075313
30 Concord Street

Files have been updated.  WB1 is only .5 miles from original location, so should not mess with your routes too badly.

VERY IMPORTANT CHANGE.  Mileage cap is 500 miles, NOT 450.

GPX file added to file list, for basecamp users.

Rally Q&A event possible.
Any interest in a rally seminar Friday night?  There is a Buffalo Wild Wings right near rally HQ.  I would be happy to host a Q&A re: Rallying in general.  Nothing specific to TLGSR would be discussed.  Voice your thoughts and LMK.  Will decide Thursday PM if it will happen.

BOR4 address is 35 Route 519.  Not route 19.  Coordinates are correct.  File has been corrected.

Prizes and announcements

Prize list and sponsor page is up.  We have over $800 in prizes this year, hoping to get that over $1,000.  All donated by our generous sponsors.  Please support those who support us.

Hints and such for the rally:
There will be wild cards.  The wild cards will be announced at the rider's meeting.  Make sure you aren't late and leave some slack in your plan to allow for gathering of the wild cards.  I am fairly sure the wild cards will play a large role in how well you do in this rally.

We are holding at 26 riders.  Let's get some friends involved and push this number higher.  Really want to get around 40 riders.

Facebook Photo Bonus!

Last year we experimented with using FaceBook email as an option for submitting your rally photos.  Some people did it, and others did not.

We enjoyed watching the photos come in, so we are offering bonus points this year, for using this option.

For each successful submission via the FaceBook email option submitted, you will receive 250 bonus points, once per bonus.  This means you can not send 10 pics of the same bonus and get 2,500 points.  You can submit multiple pics per bonus, but can only score an extra 250 points per bonus location.

You do not need FaceBook, just a phone capable of taking pictures and sending them as an email attachment.

The process is as easy as it gets:

Take your bonus picture
Attach it to an email
Address email to: ampul649judson@m.facebook.com
Put your rider number in the subject

We suggest putting this email address in your contacts, and making it an easily called up contact.  If you start the name with an underscore, it should come up as your first contact.

As an added bonus, anyone can earn an early 1,000 points.

Send an email to that address with a subject of just your name, and include a photo of the bike you plan on riding in the rally.  No other info may be in the email body or subject.

This bonus is available up until 9/27/2013 11:59 PM.

You get one shot at this, so do it right.  There are no tricks on this one.  It is as simple as it sounds.

If you can mange to read the one paragraph above, and follow the instructions, you will start the rally with 1,000 points.  This bonus is available to you even if you do not use the FaceBook email option.

A selfie sent from your cell phone or a fresh pic of your ride  sent from your cell phone is the best test.  Either one will suffice for the 1,000 point bonus.

If the email option doesn't work during the rally, it could cost you, so we suggest using this as a test.

  1. UPDATE and Clarification:

In order to get the 250 points per bonus location, photo must be submitted while at the location. You can not take all your photos and then submit at the end of the rally to get the bonus.

This bonus is geared towards making the rally a living, evolving thing, so others can follow along and see where you are and where you have been, in real time, more or less.

There will be a little leeway in this, to allow for a photo that didn't send, or you forgot to send from one bonus, but the idea and spirit is to have a live feed.

Leeway is at the RM's discretion. Not sure about the leeway? Make sure the pics get sent before moving on to the next bonus.

  2. Could you please refine the explanation of what wild cards will be? Bonuses announced only at the riders meeting? Something else?
    TIA

  3. At the riders meeting a listing of wild card bonii will be handed out, along with values and locations if applicable. So yes, a list of bonii to be figured out on the ride.

  4. You wrote above: "Put your rider number in the subject". How do I know my rider number?

    1. If you are referring to the 1,000 point bonus, reread the requirements.

  6. Hi Anthony,
I only have a dumb phone that can send a text as an e-mail but it doesn't include a subject. Will this be okay for the 1,000 pt pre-rally photo bonus and 250 pt facebook e-mail photo bonuses? Thanks, Billy C.

    1. Try and send and put the subject requirements in the body. Let's see how that goes.

  7. Looks like my name in the body did not come through. I commented on the photo with my name, will that be okay for the 1,000 pts, please, please, please? I can try to "borrow" a phone or see if my dumb phone has any other options.

    1. Hi Anthony, I was able to create a template on my phone which will alllow a subject line. It takes a little longer to create but I tested it out and it appears to work okay. I resent my pic this morning and it shows up correctly on FB. I should be good to go for this weekend. Really looking forward to it.

  9. I'm using Garmin Basecamp. To the best of my knowledge, Basecamp will not import Excel data. Do you have the data available in a format that is compatible with Basecamp? Otherwise, I'm going to have to manually input everything.
